Ashok Vaidya was an engineer, a product of IIT Bombay. He was from the crop of Bridge players IITs produced in the 1970s.
He had a successful partnership with Suhas Vaidya. They were a part of the first team to represent India in Bermuda Bowl in 1993.
He was a jolly man; very friendly and always smiling. A thorough gentleman on and off the table.
He was an old school Bridge player who believed in sound bidding.
To honor him, PRBA, along with MBA, under the aegis of BFI is dedicating this year's annual event to his memory. This will be a Category A Ranking tournament.
There will be two main events viz. a Swiss Teams Event and Match Point Pairs Event. People who fail to qualify for the finals of either event or who wish to just play on the last day can participate in an IMP Pairs Event.
We invite all of you to play in large numbers in tribute to his memory.
